Kristen Mackinzie Bishop and Chance Dee Forest Chapman have been selected to receive the 2012 Titus County Fair Scholarships.

Mackinzie is the daughter of Mike and Valerie Bishop and is a senior at Chapel Hill High School where she is very involved in extra curricular activities. She is a member of the Chapel Hill FFA and has held officer positions of President, Vice-President, and Sentinel and received the Lone Star Degree. She has attended both state and local FFA conventions as well as participated and placed in several contests including: Radio Broadcasting, Flora-culture, and Judging. She is also a Member of the National Honor Society and served as Class Officer her Sophomore year. Other activities include: Varsity Cheerleader, Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Softball, Varsity Basketball, Member of Junior Chamber of Commerce, FCA, 4-H, and is also active in the Nevills Chapel Baptist Church Youth Group.

Bishop's fair participation began with the Academic Rodeo Speech Contest. She has shown Broilers since 2004 and had the Grand Champion pen of Broilers that year. She has entered the Ag Mechanics Show the past two years receiving Grand Champion in 2011. She plans to enter an Ag Mechanics project in this year's fair.

   Mackinzie takes care of a neighbor's pet when they travel and does house cleaning for an elderly family member. She interned with Dr. Robertson's Veterinary Clinic, Summer of 2011 and plans to study Animal Science at Texas A&M University.

   Chance Chapman is the son of Michael and Tammy Chapman and is a senior at Chapel Hill High School where he served as Class Reporter as a Freshman, Class Treasurer as a Sophomore & Junior, and is presently Vice-President of his Senior Class. He is very active in FFA, receiving 1st in District & 6th in Area on Greenhand Chapter Conducting Team as a Freshman and has placed in both District & Area in numerous contests each year since.  He has received the Chapter Poultry Production Award and Lone Star Award. He has been a Student Council member all four years and is now serving as President, is a member of National Honor Society,  Junior Chamber of Commerce and Future Business Leaders of America. Chance has entered UIL contests in Mathematics, Computer Science, and has placed or qualified for state in One Act Play for 3 years. He also has run Cross Country and placed 3rd in District in Tennis.  

  Chapman has been active in the Chapel Hill 4-H program serving as president, been on the County Council and received the 4-H Gold Star Award. He is also active in his church youth group where each summer he participates in a mission trip to either the Texas Baptist Home for Children in Waxahachie, TX where they sort through donations, put on a sports camp for foster children, and paint the foster homes or volunteer at Mission Arlington in Arlington, TX where they clean various shelter sites, give a Bible lesson to neighborhood children in apartment complexes and haul furniture to those in need; and also helps with  Vacation Bible School for Spanish Mission. He has also helped with the Titus County Cares summer lunch program, Titus County Cares Backpack program, and benefits for Special Olympics. Chance has also been privileged to  attend the Farm Bureau Leadership Conference in San Angelo, TX; East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar in Jacksonville, TX; and The Texas Government In-Action Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.

Chance began his fair participation in second grade by entering the science fair and three photography entries. He began exhibiting Market Broilers in 3rd grade and has done so every year since. He has also entered the photography contest every year since 2nd grade. Other fair participation includes: Math Academic Rodeo, Academic Decathalon and  Market Goat.  He has been awarded Jr. Most Knowledgeable for Market Broilers, Honorable Mention for Jr. Showmanship, and received 9 Best of Class, 24 Blue Ribbons, 10 Red Ribbons, and 6 White Ribbons for his photography entries. He also participates in putting up and taking down pens for fair and helping other families in selecting broilers for exhibiting. This year he plans to once again enter Market Broilers in the Junior Livestock Show and photographs in the Photography Contest.

Work experience for Chance includes serving as attendant for private parties at Mount Pleasant Roller Rink for past two years and various maintenance work for individuals in the area. After graduation, Chapman plans to attend Texas A&M, College Station, TX, pursuing a degree in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in finance and real estate.
